Showers
Showers
Unlike bathtubs, the very first showers were not an inclination of man. Natural waterfalls provided an efficient and refreshing method of bathing. Although our contemporary methods of delivering falling water have far out-evolved nature, the principle is just the same: the soft impact and pulsating rhythms of falling water are relaxing and soothing and remove dirt and soap from the body. Because of modern manufacturing, we now have control and a lot of options when it comes to choosing how we experience a shower.
Shower Heads
Shower heads can be thought of as the water delivery system. They control the shape and velocity of the water. Specifically, the pattern and size of the nozzles or holes in the shower head combined with the shape of the head determine the type of stream.
Multifunction Shower Heads
Just as the name suggests, multifunction shower heads offer a variety of water streams or effects. Depending on your mood, your body type or just your personal preference, multifunction heads offer streams such as; massage, wide coverage, or mist. Most often, the type of stream can be adjusted by rotating the shower head.Single Function Shower Heads
These provide only one type of water stream but are available in a wider variety of shapes and styles. Single function shower heads work great in applications that combine multiple heads, for instance in showers that use body or wall jets with adjustable streams.Hand Showers
This type of shower actually refers to the way the shower head is mounted. A hand shower will have a flexible tube connected to the shower head, making it movable and capable of reaching a wider range of areas on your body and the shower. This feature is also great for rinsing off soap or suds after a shower is completed and can help keep the shower area clean.Body Jets
Body jets are water nozzles mounted in the shower separately from the primary shower head. There’s really no way to describe the difference between a single and multi-head shower. The warmth and added massaging effect of multiple streams of water is amazing and refreshing. Modern wall jet showers come in a variety of configurations, ranging from a single nozzle that gives you over-head and side coverage to multi-jet systems that encapsulate your body from all angles.
Shower Faucets
The faucet is the valve that initiates and regulates water flow to the shower heads. Most shower faucets employ a mixer tap that combines the hot and cold water sources before delivery to the shower heads. This technology was patented in 1880 and is in use by almost every faucet made today. These days newer technologies, such as the thermostatic mixing valve, provide constant pressure and a safe-guard from scalding heat.
Single Handle
Single handle faucets are most common in showers today. They combine of all the features and functions into one complex valve system. Simple single handle faucets will use the same handle to adjust both volume and temperature.
Two Handle
Contemporary faucets will use a two-stage or a two-piece handle that allows you to adjust water temperature separately from water volume by using a secondary dial or lever. This is extremely convenient because the shower can be turned on and off, without ever affecting the temperature setting, so next time you use the shower, the temperature is right where you left it.
Showers are much more than a way to bathe. They’re refreshing, therapeutic and most importantly, the official start or end of your day. To learn more about how your shower experience can be transformed with the right balance of unique design, quality and price, contact us today.
